What ages do you provide classes for at your studio? What Genres?
NSETC offers classes from 18 months to Adult! We offer a variety of dance classes including: parent and tot, creative movement, ballet, jazz, tap, musical/dance theatre, hip-hop, modern, contemporary, lyrical, acro, poms, combo classes, technique classes for leaps, kicks, turns and tumbling, as well as strength and stretch. We also have performance teams for all levels, cheerleading, tumbling and competition teams! We cater to all ages, levels and abilities. Have a class request? Let us know!
What are your COVID procedures?
All of our staff and teaching assistants will be masking throughout the season unless otherwise advised by the Illinois Athletic Association, CDC or local authorities on the subject. Our entire staff is fully vaccinated and will be facilitating frequent hand washing, sanitizing between classes, wiping down all props used for classes and cleaning barres, windows, mirrors, door handles and mats. Your child’s safety and health is our highest priority.
How does Tuition work?
Tuition is billed monthly at $72 per class. (We bill every 4 weeks which comes out to $18 per 55 minute class.) Multiple class and sibling discounts are also available. *Longer classes or technique classes may incur additional fees.
What do I pay for when I register for classes?
When you sign up there is a costume fee deposit for $65, and also a $25 non-refundable registration fee. If you decide to transfer to a different class prior to registration closing, the costume fee follows you, and if you need to drop we will refund you the costume fee (after registration closes you get to keep the costume if it has already been ordered.) If you need to drop any classes, just let us know and we will stop payment on your account. We will only bill you for the classes you have attended.
Do you offer Trial classes?
We do not currently offer trial classes for contact tracing and liability purposes, but we are happy to have you observe 15 minutes of a class in session (with masks please). You can also choose to register for class and we will refund you if it’s not a perfect fit (sans the non-refundable $25 registration fee).
Do I need to commit to the entire season and how long is it?
You do not need to commit to the entire season, but we do highly recommend it! Our season runs Sept-June and we end the season with a super fun spring recital production! Enrollment will remain open until the end of November for dancers to transfer classes and register. Once we order costumes, placement in recital routines is final. You must be enrolled by the time registration closes in order to participate in the dance recital. If you drop your class prior to the end of November, you will receive your costume deposit back as a refund.
Not interested in a recital performance? We also offer dance and cheer camps during winter break and the summer session!
We can’t come to class this week, can we do a make-up?
Yes! Please email Miss Nabi and we will get a make-up class time and day set up for your dancer/s. Class fees are non-refundable, so we encourage you to make-up classes if you have to miss!
When and where is the spring recital?
We are currently set for a June 12th recital date at Glenbrook South High School! More information will be emailed to registered students during the fall session.
We are new to dance/cheer/tumbling/acro, what class should my child sign up for?
No athlete or dancer is the same! Our class levels and ages are guidelines. Here are some good questions to ask yourself before registering for a class:
• Is my child fully independent or do they need me/a caregiver at arms length?
• Has my child danced in a structured class before?
• Is this more for socialization or for dance instruction?
• What are my child’s goals? What are my goals for my child?
• Does my child want to dance for fun/with friends, or level up each year?
• Are we looking for a seasonal activity or a full-season commitment?
• What is my child’s energy level, ability to follow instructions and/or actively listen?
• Is my child interested in a recreational dance experience, recital performances, or competitions?
• How much are we willing to commit as a family to this activity? (Time, finances, dedication, attendance, etc)
• Is my child willing to put work in at home to gain specific skills, or do we plan to work during class once a week?
Asking these questions helps your instructor to tailor their class structure to your child's needs. We pride ourselves on having an inclusive learning environment for dancers of all abilities and levels. We want every dancer to feel supported and challenged so they can progress at the pace that is right for them.
Answering these questions can help instructors determine whether a dancer can be a leader in a younger class or can rise to the occasion in a classroom of older or more mature students. This may be the difference between taking ballet, cheer, hip hop, or tumbling; as well as how quickly your child progresses in and out of the studio! Ultimately YOU are the expert in knowing your child. Helping us to understand how your child learns and performs in the classroom allows our teaching artist staff to be at their most supportive!
If you have any questions about placement please don’t hesitate to email Miss Nabi and she can communicate with your child’s instructor for clarification or how we can better our program. We look forward to dancing with you soon!
